"The Jim Joustra Band: Live in New York City" (2019)

A limited pressing played and recorded in LIC Queens, NYC on March 9th, 2019. This single features two tracks from that night’s performance: “OG Groove “ and “Funky, Groovy”.

Recorded in 2-track stereo, the recording is intended to give the listener an organic listening experience from the viewpoint of the audience that night. The recording features Jim Joustra (guitar), Jordan Cortese (bass), and John Lopez Jr. (drums).

Outside of the simplistic recording style, the group’s purposeful (yet tasteful) use of motif-based improvisational techniques allows this performance to breathe and react within its own musical environment. Improvisation melds into composition seamlessly which leaves the listener hanging on for each new introductory entry.
